The central point of this research was to demonstrate the importance of the TJPA historical documents under custody of the Federal University of Pará considering three pillars: teaching, research and extension. In this way, some actions and their lines of action, extents and concerns are emphasized. The implications of an adequate document management may enhance a democratic construction out of preservation of judiciary collection that, more than inform, bring in their registers ways of life, cultures, economics, politics and society, and create necessary discussions that reveal themselves in the present and are updated as historical resources to the teaching, research and extension. Therefore, it is possible to notice that this range of possibilities is being developed by students, technical staff and teachers of different teaching institutions, demonstrating the strengthening link between the document collections, teaching, research and extension. A pesquisa desta dissertação objetivou analisar o processo de gestão, organização e tratamento do acervo judiciário do Tribunal de Justiça do Pará-TJPA, considerando os convênios com instituições públicas e sociedade literária como estratégia de garantia da preservação do acervo e democratização do acesso a documentação à sociedade em geral, utilizando como recorte de tempo o ano de 1991-2021, onde inicia-se com a provação da Lei de Arquivos. O problema central da pesquisa é demonstrar a importância dos documentos históricos judiciário do TJPA, sob a guarda da Universidade Federal do Pará considerando as ações desenvolvidas nos três pilares de sustentação desta Instituição de Ensino: ensino, pesquisa e extensão. Neste sentido, no decorrer do trabalho há ênfase em algumas ações, considerando linhas de atuação, seus alcances e percalços. As implicações de uma gestão documental administrativa adequada podem enriquecer a construção democrática a partir da preservação dos acervos judiciários, que mais do que informar, trazem em seus registros modos de vidas, culturas, economia, política e sociedade, e geram discursos necessários que se revelam no presente e são atualizados como fontes históricas para o ensino, pesquisa e extensão. Portanto, é possível perceber que este leque de possibilidades vem sendo desenvolvido por discentes, técnicos e docentes de diferentes instituições de ensino demonstrando o estreitamento das relações entre acervos documentais, ensino, pesquisa e extensão.
