The Zoological and Botanical Park of the Goeldi Museum has in its collection living collections of fauna and flora, being very visited by the general public. These collections are still little known due to the scarce research and publicity about them. The presence of a Botanical Garden stimulates studies of a regional flora, support for research, teaching and conservation of botanical types. Thus, this project is an attempt to develop research activities articulated to the activities of diffusion, dissemination and environmental education to the scientific community and society in general. The survey of material and field data is carried out throughout the period and, concomitantly, activities are developed to disseminate the knowledge acquired. They are being carried out: survey of phenological data of the Park's vegetal species; collection and processing of seeds for the collection, exchange and production of seedlings; bibliographical research on the Park's vegetal species for the elaboration of special scripts, Folders, Informative Brochures, Data Bank, Educational Panels. To date, 100 plant species have been organized in a Data Bank, including fruit trees, medicinal plants and toxic plants; 100 seed samples and informative panels about the Açaí Euterpe oleracea and Andiroba Carapa guienensis. |
