Pollen grains of Dinizia excelsa Ducke (Leguminosae Mimosoideae) and of Diptychandra aurantiaca Tul. and D. epunctata Tul. (Leguminosae Caesalpinioideae), were analyzed for their most diverse aspects and it was verified that although they belong to different subfamilies, they are very similar to each other because they are mainly assembled in tetrads, tetrahedral, alkaline, which are peculiar characteristics of the pollen grains of the subfamily Mimosoideae. Adult flower buds were taken from the herbaria EAC, INPA, MG, MO, R, RB and RFA, acetolized, measured, described and photomicrographed. Based initially on the pollen morphology, it is expected that the results achieved in this work can contribute to resolve the possible taxonomic position of Diptychandra in the subfamily Mimosoideae. Subsequently, we intend to investigate the morphology of the flowers of the genera in question in order to compare them with the morphology of their pollen grains (CNPq/MPEG).
