The genus Voaucapoua is represented in the Brazilian Amazon by two species V americana Aubl. and V pollidior Ducke. Their pollen grains were analyzed for size, number of openings, ornamentation and stratification of the exine. To prepare the slides, adult flower buds were collected from the main herbaria of the Amazon (MPEG and IAN -CPATU/ EMBRAPA) and submitted to acetolysis. The pollen grains were measured, described and photomicrographed. During the analysis of the slides it was verified that pollen grains of V pollidior Ducke. present two types of equatorial views and are: isopolar of radial symmetry, 3-colporate, medium, varying from spheroidal oblates to prolate, with finely reticulate surface, triangular ambulate and circular endopening; whereas the pollen grains of V americana Aubl. are isopolar with radial symmetry, 3-colporate, medium, prolate, with a finely reticulate surface, triangular amb and circular endopening.
