In the state of Pará, the municipalities that are influenced by the Atlantic Ocean make up the "salty physiographic zone". This zone presents different ecosystems, such as fields, forests, mangroves and restingas, little studied from a botanical point of view. The sandbanks of Maiandeua and Algodoal are composed of some plant formations, where several families of plants are distributed, among them the Sapindaceae juss. The Sapindaceae family is represented in Brazil by 150 genera and about 2000 species. On the sandbanks of the islands of Algodoal and Maiandeua the genera Cupania Vabl., Matayba (Spreng.) Radlk., Pseudima (Aubl.) Radlk. and Talisia occur. They are represented by the following species: Cupania diphylla Vahl. shrub up to 3m tall, bifoliate, alternate, petiolate, peninertial leaves; limb 12 to 16,5cm long and 6,5 to 9cm wide, oval leaf blade, rounded base and rounded to truncate apex; white inflorescence, plant on dunes. Cupania sp. shrub 2,5m high, simple leaves, alternate, petiolate, pubescent; limb 8 to l3cm long and 6 to 8cm wide, oval, straight apex and cuneate base; axillary inflorescence, with white flowers and petals. It is found in the restinga woodland formation. Pseudima frutescens (Aubl) Radlk. shrub up to 2,4m tall, simple leaves, opposite, petiolate, pubescent; limb 8 to 16cm long and 4,5 to 6cm wide, elliptic, acute apex, obtuse base, white flowers. It is located in the restinga forest formation. Matayba discolor (Spreng) Radlk., represented by a shrub up to 4m high, bifoliate leaves, alternate, petiolate, peninérvea; limb 8 to 11 cm long and 4 to 5cm wide, oblong, acute apex, cuneate base; immature green and mature reddish fruits. It is located on dunes. The preservation of the species on site is very important for the stability of the dunes, since they are found on them, helping to fix them and, consequently, preventing their advance over the mangrove. The methodology used in this work is that commonly employed in plant taxonomy
