This paper aims to analyze the role of the school library in the teaching learning process, to understand the competences of the school librarian in this process, to talk about the mission of the school library, its infrastructure and about community participation in the library. Showing through the bibliography researched that the library and the school librarian are powerful instruments of pedagogical support. A case study was also carried out in the library of the Raymundo Martins Vianna School, in order to know about the participation of the library in the teaching-learning process, in which the participation of the library in the pedagogical school process was verified through educational projects aimed at Reinforce the content seen in the classroom, promote the habit of reading and train responsible citizens. Based on the researches, it concludes that the school library can participate actively in the teaching-learning process of the schools, provided that there is a joint work between the librarian and the school community so that the role of the library is enhanced.
