This research is based on theoretical reference on conceptions of evaluation and data collected through the application of a questionnaire to teachers and students of said school, which reveals that all teachers are fully aware of the importance of critical evaluation for the performance of their work, although many do not develop it correctly and planned. It is verified in the teachers 'speech that they use several evaluation instruments, being this base to advance in the learning teaching, but through the students' speeches, we can still see a practice focused only on bimonthly tests, where good behavior is the stimulus for good grades, evaluating only memorized knowledge. It is concluded that there is a diversity of thoughts about evaluation between teachers and students, because there seems to be no dialogue when choosing the evaluation instruments. O presente trabalho destaca em tema a avaliação escolar e tem por objetivo refletir sobre de que maneira ocorre o processo avaliativo nas turmas de 4º e 5º ano da Escola Municipal de Ensino Fundamental Prof. Antônio Alves dos Santos. Esta pesquisa tem como base referencial teórico sobre concepções de avaliação e dados coletados por meio de aplicação de questionário a professores e alunos da referida escola, no qual nos revela que todos os professores têm plena consciência da importância da avaliação crítica para a realização do seu trabalho, embora muitos não a desenvolvam de forma correta e planejada. Verifica-se na fala dos professores que os mesmos utilizam de diversos instrumentos avaliativos, sendo esta base para avançarem no ensino aprendizagem, porém através das falas dos alunos, percebese ainda uma prática voltada somente para provas bimestrais, onde o bom comportamento é o estímulo para boas notas, avaliando apenas o conhecimento memorizado.
