The present work was carried out with students of the 9th grade of Elementary School in Portuguese Language classes, based on the argumentative genre as a resource for the development of critical reading skills, textual production and analysis of the same. general objective to enable students to position themselves as subjects in the practice of communicating their daily lives and specific objectives; To improve linguistic skills, that is, the use of grammar and develop reading and writing practice, awakening the ability to question, through argument, and in everyday practice students perceive the great value of the argumentative genre in Portuguese Language classes. In the course of this article, I presented the theoretical bases that I take as a basis, and present possibilities for the realization of the project that was applied in the 9th grade class of Elementary School at the Barão do Cairari School.
