The study is a historical survey of the path of men and women, in different periods, in the labor market as well as the Ballroom Dance, including the international, national and local contexts. The methodology adopted was the qualitative research by means of a semistructured interview, in a virtual way, performed with seven woman dancers who had at least 2 years of experience in Ballroom Dance, in Belém. The results indicate that, nowadays, most of the female workforce in the marketplace of the studied area is composed of young women, between 20 and 36 years old. Six out of seven interviewees have a college degree course and six of them stated, taking a look at their context, that male professionals dominate the area. According to their speeches, women are still marked by gender prejudice in various backgrounds. Even though there is a gradual evolution, the achievements are not satisfactory yet and the interviewees long for greater fairness and female participation, outside the power relations between the genders in their professional branch. Therefore, it is urgent and necessary that professionals and practitioners of the Ballroom Dance break the barriers and social constructions that are harmful to them and for all who wish to work as a ballroom dancer in Belém. Finally, the empowerment and qualification are essential to assure women's welfare, both in the personal and professional spheres, and the valorization of women performing at the Ballroom Dance. Esta pesquisa tem como principal objetivo analisar a atual participação feminina no mercado de trabalho da Dança de Salão em Belém do Pará a fim de compreender o baixo índice de participação feminina neste contexto. Além de: Investigar a realidade vivida por mulheres que atuam como profissionais de Dança de Salão em Belém do Pará, com base em seus conhecimentos empíricos compartilhados por meio de entrevista concedida; Desvendar quais são as principais dificuldades enfrentadas por estas mulheres para ingressar e para manter-se neste mercado de trabalho; Colaborar para a emancipação profissional feminina no cenário da Dança de Salão belenense.. Para isto, realizou-se levantamentos históricos que mostram a trajetória de homens e mulheres, em períodos diferentes, no mercado e na referida modalidade, englobando os contextos internacional, nacional e local. Adotou-se como metodologia a pesquisa qualitativa, feita por meio de entrevista semi-estruturada, de maneira virtual, realizada com sete mulheres profissionais da Dança de Salão, que tivessem, no mínimo, 2 anos de atuação na área, no município de Belém/PA. Os resultados da pesquisa indicaram que, atualmente, grande parte da força de trabalho na Dança de Salão é constituída por mulheres jovens, na faixa etária entre 20 a 36 anos, sendo que, das sete entrevistadas, seis têm curso de nível superior. A partir da observação do contexto no qual estão inseridas, seis das sete colaboradoras afirmaram que a área é majoritariamente dominada por profissionais do sexo masculino. Em suas falas, constatou-se que as mulheres ainda são marcadas por preconceitos de gênero em diversos contextos. Embora se tenha uma evolução ainda que gradativa, as conquistas alcançadas não são completamente satisfatórias e os relatos demonstraram que as entrevistadas almejam que a modalidade seja constituída fora das relações de poder, com maior equidade e com maior participação feminina. Concluiu-se que é urgente e necessário que profissionais e praticantes da Dança de Salão rompam com as barreiras e construções sociais que são prejudiciais àquelas que são ou que desejam ser profissionais deste mercado em Belém/PA.
