This article aims to discuss the consequences of the construction of the Transamazônica Highway, one of the greatest works of the military dictatorship, in school education in the municipality of Altamira. In this way, we intend to problematize the consequences caused by the opening of Transamazônica in the educational area and to identify the investments made by this integration project that was responsible for the rapid increase of the population index in the municipality. From the analysis of interviews and reports of memories, as well as the documents provided by the schools, it was possible to understand the reality of school education in Altamira in the 1970s. The research was carried out using theoretical contributions related to the studied period, magazines and books that talk about the military regime, education during the dictatorship and about the municipality of Altamira. The results allow us to discuss the changes that occurred in the education of this municipality and how this process occurred in the school context from the implantation of this great enterprise
