Resumo:
This work presents the results of a research carried out in a preschool and early years of elementary school in the city of Acará, which aimed to investigate the factors present in the lives of students that lead them to failure from school, age-grade distortion, as well as identify how they present themselves and how the researched school and the municipal education system itself act to alleviate this problem. The study is characterized in a qualitative field research, through participant observation and semi-structured interviews, aiming at a greater participation of the subjects involved in the research, which were three teachers, a representative of the school board and a representative of the Municipal Secretariat of Education. From the analysis of the collected information, it was possible to infer that the school professionals attribute the main causes of this problem to the student's family, however, it was observed that the school itself has not provided the proper attention to the problem. It was also identified the lack of attention and support to the school by the Department of Education of the municipality.
