The main objective is to investigate how number theory can contribute to the resolution of problem situations and consequently to the learning of students in elementary school. In order to achieve this objective, this study is part of the bibliographic and quantitative research. As for its structure the study is divided into four chapters. The first deals with an initial analysis of Number Theory. The second deals with the insertion of this theory in elementary school. The third presents the research methodology and the fourth to the data analysis. The results revealed that in the researched class students have difficulties in solving problems, their acquisition on the other hand would allow students to develop autonomy and critical sense in them. The research also revealed that number theory should be worked out more contextually in the educational environment as a way to enable students to use their knowledge to solve problems. Thus, it is noticeable that the theory of numbers is more valued in the learning process of students, especially in situations involving the correlation between theory and practice. O presente estudo tem como foco a Teoria dos Números aplicada a resolução de problemas aos alunos do 6º ano do ensino Fundamental da Escola Professora Oneide Alves Pinheiro em Nova Timboteua-Pa. O objetivo principal consiste em investigar como a teoria dos números pode contribuir para a resolução de situações problemas e consequentemente para a aprendizagem dos alunos no ensino fundamental. No intuito de alcançar tal objetivo, o referido estudo insere-se no âmbito da pesquisa científica bibliográfica e quanti-qualitativa. Quanto a sua estrutura o estudo encontra-se dividido em quatro capítulos. O primeiro trata de uma análise inicial da Teoria dos Números. O segundo trata da inserção dessa teoria no Ensino Fundamental. O terceiro apresenta a metodologia da pesquisa e o quarto à análise dos dados. Os resultados revelaram que na turma pesquisada os alunos possuem dificuldades quanto a resolução de problemas, sua aquisição por outro lado permitiria ao alunos desenvolver nelas autonomia e o senso crítico. A pesquisa revelou também, que teoria dos números deve ser trabalhada de maior contextualizada no ambiente educacional como forma de possibilitar aos alunos utilizarem os seus conhecimentos para a resolução de problemas.
