Resumo:
This text aimed to understand how environmental education was done by geography teachers from four schools in the metropolitan region of Belém-PA, to later point out methodologies capable of facilitating teaching about the environment and environmental degradation. The text discusses the positive effects of practical classes on the learning of basic education students with regard to Environmental Education, and presents a trajectory made for the construction of new knowledge through the articulation between theoretical and practical classes. This research had the opportunity to be carried out from the observations of geography classes for a period of three years, in three public schools and one private, in which the students were asked: what is the importance of educational practices in environmental education? The students' response led to the development of action plans that culminated in educational practices, which focused on soil degradation, in which students were able to develop their environmental citizenship, build knowledge, analyze the environment where they are inserted and evaluate the effects of transformations of landscapes in people's lives.
