The text discusses the positive effects of practical classes on the learning of basic education students with regard to Environmental Education, and presents a trajectory made for the construction of new knowledge through the articulation between theoretical and practical classes. This research had the opportunity to be carried out from the observations of geography classes for a period of three years, in three public schools and one private, in which the students were asked: what is the importance of educational practices in environmental education? The students' response led to the development of action plans that culminated in educational practices, which focused on soil degradation, in which students were able to develop their environmental citizenship, build knowledge, analyze the environment where they are inserted and evaluate the effects of transformations of landscapes in people's lives. Este texto teve como objetivo entender como a educação ambiental era feita pelos professores de geografia de quatro escolas da região metropolitana de Belém-PA, para posteriormente apontar metodologias capazes de facilitar o ensino sobre meio ambiente e degradação ambiental. O texto discute os efeitos positivos das aulas práticas na aprendizagem dos alunos da educação básica no que tange a Educação Ambiental, e apresenta uma trajetória feita para construção de novos saberes através da articulação entre aulas teóricas e práticas. Essa pesquisa teve a oportunidade de ser realizada a partir das observações das aulas de geografia por um período de três anos, em três escolas públicas e uma privada, nas quais se questionou junto aos alunos: qual a importância das práticas educativas na educação ambiental?
