For this, it was necessary to characterize the agricultural practices in the municipality, identify the incentive policies for family agricultural production in the national, state and municipal context, characterize the practices of land use and occupation and identify the main problems of family agriculture in the municipality. A bibliographical and documentary research of the municipality, cartographic survey and field research was then carried out. In view of this, it appears that there are few municipal projects to encourage production, few communities are inserted and a large part of the production is spread across the rural area of the municipality, which imposes the importance of incentives and projects that influence the means of agricultural production. O presente trabalho tem em vista a importância da agricultura familiar no município de Baião-PA, analisando as tendências e perspectiva da agricultura local, a fim de apresentar as principais limitações e potencialidades da produção. Para isso, foi necessário caracterizar as práticas agrícolas no município, identificar as políticas de incentivos à produção agrícola familiar no contexto nacional, estadual e municipal, caracterizar as práticas de uso e ocupação do solo e identificar as principais problemáticas da agricultura familiar no município. Foi realizado então uma pesquisa bibliográfica e documental do município, levantamento cartográfico e pesquisa de campo.
