It deals with patent applications that the Federal University of Pará does from 2000 to the present day of 2017, shows the units that most act to seek technological innovation and still indicates the areas of knowledge that are related to the research. The Law number 9.279/1996, which regulates the rights of industrial/intellectual property in Brazil itself is recent, however brought with it the certainty of legal protection to inventors. It also makes analyses about the performance of the main Brazilian universities with the triangulation of government, research institution and productive sector. Talks about the origin, definition and valuation of the patent, an indispensable document for the development of the Northern Region and the country. And it presents the result of the requests, be it the temporary grant of the letter-patent to that inventor/creator of something really new.
