Study on the importance of the librarian’s recognition as a professional who works as
an educator in the school library environment raises new areas of conflict and debate
as to their informational competence and their role of instilling and facilitating reading.
Thereafter it is possible to think about the importance of this professional of
librarianship working in a school environment, since this one may be considered one
of the greater encourage in reading’s promotion. It is important to know different
definitions about the school library, its role in integrating the school's educational
system. Thus, the main goal of this research is to analyze and understand how the
information professional is inserted in school education, its competence and
informational literacy, its educational role exercised through reading practices carried
out in a school environment. Then, the research on the librarian’s importance in the
school environment is qualitative, exploratory and qualitative character, with strong
help of the bibliography available on the subject in Brazil. We consider that the
presence of the school librarian is of paramount importance in order to achieve a
development of the reading habit, improving students' learning inside and outside the
environment, practices that only give satisfactory results with the realization of the
partnership between the teacher and the disseminator of information. We understand,
at the end of this discussion, about the educational function of the school librarian, that
the librarian can be considered an educator once, in partnership with the faculty of the
school, performing literacy practices, helping to improve students' learning. |
