Data were collected through questionnaires with open and closed structured questions applied to users and library librarians. From the field research, it was observed that the reference service of the library exerts a primordial factor for those who seek it, since the dissemination of information creates a link between the user and the librarian, even though there are some problems related to the service. The library is highly sought after. As a result, the paper presents suggestions made by users to improve the performance of activities in the referral service. Thus, it can be seen that the Institution seeks to serve users seeking to satisfy their information needs, but is willing to grow even more in its library services. Apresenta uma pesquisa referente ao estudo de usuário da Biblioteca Lourenço José Tavares Vieira da Silva, pertencente à Universidade Federal Rural do Pará–UFRA.O objetivo deste trabalho é realizar um estudo de usuários na biblioteca universitária da Universidade Federal Rural da Amazônia- UFRA.Tal estudo optou por uma metodologia de cunho exploratório baseado no método quali quanti. Os dados foram coletados através de questionários com perguntas estruturadas abertas e fechadas aplicadas aos usuários e aos bibliotecários da biblioteca. A partir da pesquisa de campo, observou-se que o serviço de referência da biblioteca exerce um fator primordial para aqueles que a procuram, pois a disseminação de informação cria um elo entre o usuário e o bibliotecário, mesmo havendo alguns problemas relacionados ao atendimento. A biblioteca é muito procurada. Como resultado, o trabalho apresenta sugestões manifestadas pelos usuários para melhorar o desempenho das atividades no serviço de referência.
