Objective: To describe the actual quantitative and epidemiological situation of diagnosed cases of Diabetes mellitus and Systemic Arterial Hypertension in the middle Itacuruçá quilombola community, as well as to verify associated factors. Methods: A descriptive-quantitative study was carried out, through the analysis of 83 medical records of patients enrolled in the Hiperdia program, out of a total of 1,320 community residents, from 2014 to 2018. The data analyzed were: sex, age, presence of hypertension and / or diabetes, schooling, occupation, type of dwelling, source of water supply, sanitary toilet drain, garbage destination, alcohol consumption and smoking. Results: Of the total number of patients evaluated, the number of hypertension cases in the community was 5.7%, and diabetes was 1.6%. The majority of the female sex (67%), age group from 61 to 70 years old (30.1%), incomplete elementary schooling level (54.2%), retired (43.4%), did not consume alcoholic beverages , 2%), non-smokers (51.8%), live in the masonry house (59%), use the community water source as a source of water supply (57.8%), have a septic tank closed in their residences (61.4%), deliver their garbage in the selective collection (66.3%). Conclusion: The number of diagnosed cases in the community between the period 2014 to 2018 was low, both for hypertension and diabetes. However, further studies are needed, with larger samples to confirm this data. Introdução: Segundo a Política nacional de saúde integral da população negra, diabetes mellitus e hipertensão arterial sistêmica estão entre as doenças genéticas ou hereditárias mais comuns da população negra. Objetivo: Descrever a real situação quantitativa e epidemiológica de casos diagnosticados de Diabetes mellitus e de Hipertensão Arterial Sistêmica na comunidade quilombola Médio Itacuruçá, bem como, verificar fatores associados. Métodos: Foi realizado um estudo com abordagem descritivo-quantitativa, através da análise de 83 prontuários de pacientes cadastrados no programa Hiperdia, de um total de 1.320 moradores da comunidade, nos períodos de 2014 a 2018. Os dados analisados foram: sexo, idade, presença de hipertensão e/ou diabetes, escolaridade, ocupação, tipo de moradia, fonte de abastecimento de água, escoadouro do banheiro sanitário, destino do lixo, consumo de bebida alcoólica e tabagismo. Resultados: Do total de pacientes avaliados, o número de casos de hipertensão na comunidade foi de 5,7%, e de diabetes foi de 1,6%. A maioria do sexo feminino (67%), faixa etária de 61 a 70 anos (30,1%), nível de escolaridade fundamental incompleto (54,2%), aposentado (43,4%), não consome bebida alcoólica (54,2%), não fumante (51,8%), moram em casa de alvenaria (59%), utilizam a caixa d’água da comunidade como fonte de abastecimento de água (57,8%), tem fossa séptica fechada em suas residências (61,4%), entregam seu lixo na coleta seletiva (66,3%). Conclusão: O número de casos diagnosticados na comunidade entre o período de 2014 a 2018 foi baixo, tanto de hipertensão como de diabetes.
