The present work covers the theme of adapted sport and its repercussions on
the practitioners of adapted boules. Considering that occupations are activities
that are part of the daily life of the subject and that are influenced by the context
and the factors of the client, we can then say that the sport is within the areas of
occupation of an individual, since this category is related Social participation,
leisure, education and work. The practice of this sport allows the disabled per son the commitment to perform these activities, since the competition stimulates
intrinsic aspects such as, for example, mastering tasks. These aspects are mo tivated and help in increasing the abilities and capacities to perform Daily Life
Activities (ADL), ensuring the maintenance of the quality of life and health. The
importance of speaking on this subject is justified by the practice of sports pro vide great benefits in the welfare, physical, mental and social health of people
with disabilities. Through it, the individual learns to compete with himself and
overcomes prejudices, stereotypes, low esteem and helps his peers also in this
overcoming. The family in observing these great benefits can believe in the im provement and in the potential of their children, being this one, primordial for the
incentive to the sport. The present work, therefore, aimed to understand how
the practice of adapted Bocca can influence the occupations of its practitioners.
For this, a qualitative and exploratory research was carried out, with four practi tioners of the boules and their parents / guardians. The research was carried
out in the Integrated Center of Inclusion and Citizenship (CIIC) through a struc tured interview containing 10 questions about the practice of adapted boules.
The data were weighted with the content analysis technique. The results of the
research revealed that from the participation in an adapted sport, in question
the ball, the athletes went through great changes in their occupations, bringing
important acquisitions as autonomy and independence, for example the han dling of the wheelchair And greater interaction and social participation in the
community. In this way, it is evident that Occupational Therapy tends to contri bute to a reflection on the influence of adapted sports practice on the individu al's occupations, on the performance of young athletes in both assisting with
possible assistive technologies and in the scope of performance areas Occupa tional, contributing to a better quality of life. As well as expanding the knowledge
collections on this topic. |
