It is a qualitative study from the perspective of documentary analysis. The data survey was carried out through a literature review and official documents: Federal Constitution of 1988; Law of Directives and Bases of National Education (LDBEN) nº 9.394/1996; National Education Plan, Law nº 13.005/2014; Municipal Education Plan of Vitória do Xingu - Pará, Law nº 256/2015; and Municipal Education System of Vitória do Xingu - Pará, instituted by Law nº 006/2018. The results show that the participation of the school and local community is present in the official documents, which express the support of this right of society through legislation, but that it is still necessary to make use of other artifices so that the community has knowledge and interest to participate in the collaborative process for the improvement of education. O presente trabalho de conclusão de curso apresentou como objetivo analisar a participação da comunidade escolar e local no Sistema Municipal de Ensino das escolas públicas: um estudo documental em Vitória do Xingu-Pa. É um estudo de abordagem qualitativa na perspectiva de análise documental. Pois realizou-se o levantamento de dados através da revisão de literatura e dos documentos oficias: Constituição Federal de 1988; Lei de Diretrizes e Bases da Educação Nacional (LDBEN) nº 9.394/1996; Plano Nacional de Educação, Lei nº 13.005/2014; Plano Municipal de Educação de Vitória do Xingu - Pará, Lei nº 256/2015; e Sistema Municipal de Ensino de Vitória do Xingu - Pará, instituído pela Lei nº 006/2018.
