This paper aims to analyze the impact of biotechnology on the plantation / production of açaí in Marajó Island’s Region - Pará State, where we discuss about aspects related to the way of culture, strategy to increase fruit production and planting, weeding and fertilization. Thus, we performed the theoretical literature concerning development of biotechnology in Brazil, assessing the registration of patents number related to biotechnology in Brazil, the economic importance of biotechnology products of biotechnology in Brazil. And finally, we focus on the cultivation açaí grown in land (cultivating BRS) developed by EMBRAPA and planted in Vila Boa Vista Community, in the municipality of county of Bagre, Marajó Island – Pará State, relating the importance of this product with the development of the community in its economic and social aspects. Thus, we observe that the variety of açaí grown in land brought benefits to the community working with this management because there was improvement in the amount of pulp in the fruit of the açai BRS, increase in fruit production and increase season, which happened to be twice a year instead of once it occurs with native açai. |
