The study was carried out based on a documentary and bibliographic research that will be presented in the theoretical basis. It addresses important aspects such as history of school education, such as theories of learning by Piaget, Vigotsky and Wallon, Relating these theories to school pedagogical practices through documentary and bibliographic research of studies on subject studies. The results corroborate with the literature, which is a problem of great complexity, which starts from a biopsychosocial issue that enters the government, such as laws, policies, educational institution, pedagogical practices, family and also the student. Education is the responsibility of everyone involved. In this way, the student will have the possibility to succeed in his learning process and consequently the progressive advance in his schooling. Este trabalho de conclusão de curso tem como objetivo, analisar o fracasso escolar entendido como distorção idade /série, bem como seu processo histórico e suas implicações no processo ensino e aprendizagem. O estudo foi realizado com base em uma pesquisa documental e bibliográfica que será apresentada na fundamentação teórica. Aborda aspectos importantes como o histórico do fracasso escolar, as teorias da aprendizagem de Piaget, Vigotsky e Wallon, Relacionando essas teorias com práticas pedagógicas escolares por meio da pesquisa documental e bibliográfica de trabalhos desenvolvidos sobre o assunto. Os resultados corroboram com a literatura que esse problema é de grande complexidade, que parte de uma questão biopsicossocial em que entra o governo, as leis, políticas, a instituição escolar, as práticas pedagógicas, a família e também o aluno. A educação é responsabilidade de todos os envolvidos.
