Aiming to describe the strategies of reading poetic texts worked with deaf participants users of the Brazilian Sign Language (Libras), in a literary event. The methodology of this research is a qualitative approach, covering some theoretical references concerning art, literature and the reading of poetic texts and the interpretation of the meaning of the literary text. The pedagogical didactic strategies used during the event served as a basis to guarantee the interaction between poetic text - deaf reader, favoring the understanding and the development of poetic texts reading strategies, respecting their linguistic and cognitive specificities. Esta pesquisa refere-se a um Trabalho de Conclusão de Curso, que tem por finalidade mostrar a importância da leitura realizada por sujeitos surdos usuários da Libras, em contato com o português escrito, ao adentrar no ambiente literário, especificamente, a Literatura Brasileira, através dos textos poéticos do poeta Carlos Drummond de Andrade. Tendo por objetivo descrever as estratégias de leitura de textos poéticos trabalhados com participantes surdos usuários da Língua Brasileira de Sinais (Libras), num evento literário. A metodologia desta pesquisa trata-se de uma abordagem qualitativa, percorrendo alguns referenciais teóricos relativos à arte, a literatura e a leitura de textos poéticos e a tessitura do sentido do texto literário.
