Nosocomial infection is one of the problems acquired in public health and involves developed or developing countries. However, not all hospitals have hospital infection control and the presence of a pharmaceutical professional to control hospital infections. Thus, this study based on a literature review addresses the attributions of a pharmaceutical professional to control the hospital environment having as sources: articles, magazines and books. The type of study was descriptive that provided in obtaining general knowledge and meanings brought in scientific articles able to respond to the research objective. Data collection for research took place between March 2019 and July 2019. Several works were selected, all original and / or review articles, ordinances, laws in force in the country, with articles that addressed the theme and the proposed title. Therefore, the importance of the pharmaceutical profile in the hospital pharmacy is of great importance, as it contributes to the prescription and dispensation of medicines, standardization of antibiotics, improvement in the quality of patient care, educational measures and awareness of health professionals regarding the rational use. drugs, especially antimicrobial drugs, reducing bacterial resistance and improving the clinical condition of patients.
