Thus, the study of pathologies is the fundamental tool for the identification and understanding of performance failures during the use of building components. When this study is focused on the stages of project development, it is possible not only corrective action, but also preventive action, reducing the costs of repairs and maintenance after the completion of the work. The analysis of pathologies in the hydrosanitary system and the relationship with the useful life of the buildings was made through a case study, where an investigation was carried out of the origin of the existing pathologies in the classroom block Engenheiro Nelson Ribeiro Porto of the Federal University of Amazonas. In this study, a survey of data related to occurrences of pathologies in this block was made to verify their correlation with possible design failures. The work made it possible to compare the opinion of the engineer responsible for the development of projects and the engineer responsible for building maintenance, aiming to verify the relationship between the steps and their influence on the life of the buildings of the University Campus. Through this, it was identified that the main problem that affects the life of campus buildings and hinders maintenance occurs due to communication failure between the project workers and the systems maintenance team, in addition to the absence of the availability and updating of projects. De acordo com diversas pesquisas as instalações hidráulico-sanitárias lideram o ranking de patologias das construções. Sendo assim, o estudo das patologias é a ferramenta fundamental para que sejam possíveis a identificação e compreensão das falhas de desempenho durante a utilização dos componentes de uma edificação. Quando esse estudo está voltado para as etapas de elaboração dos projetos é possível não apenas a atuação corretiva, mas também a preventiva, diminuindo os custos com reparos e manutenções após a finalização da obra. A análise de patologias no sistema hidrossanitário e a relação com a vida útil das edificações foi feita através de um estudo de caso, onde foi realizada uma investigação da origem das patologias existentes no bloco de salas de aula Engenheiro Nelson Ribeiro Porto da Universidade Federal do Amazonas. Nesse estudo foi feito um levantamento de dados relativos a ocorrências de patologias no referido bloco para verificar sua correlação com possíveis falhas de projeto. O trabalho possibilitou a comparação entre a opinião do engenheiro responsável pela elaboração de projetos e o engenheiro responsável por manutenções prediais, objetivando verificar a relação entre as etapas e sua influência na vida útil das edificações do Campus Universitário.
