Resumo:
Understanding the trajectory and paths taken by Social Service, together with the historical trend of the profession with the predominance of female professionals, it is inferred that the low adherence or large absence of male professionals in the area is part of a historical process rooted in trajectories of the field itself that reflects and projects the problem in the present. In this sense, this work was motivated by observing the low demand for male social workers working in the city of Parintins/AM, a s well as the low participation of male academics at the Institute of Social Sciences, Education and Zootechnics (ICSEZ/UFAM). And, based on this premise, the need to seek to understand the issue of low male presence within the scope of Social Service is r eaffirmed, ensuring that there is a critical understanding in society regarding the proposed topic. In view of this, the general objective of this work is to analyze the trajectory of male social workers, from their training to their insertion into the job market in Parintins AM. To this end, the present work has a qualiquanti research approach and also proposes carrying out bibliographical research, documentary analysis and structured interviews with male social workers who are working in the city of Parin tins AM. Furthermore, based on the research results, it was possible to conclude the need to work on the gender issue within the profession and that male insertion in Social Work is a complex and challenging process, which contributes to the democratizatio n of the profession and to strengthening of Social Work as a profession committed to social justice.
