The proposed objectives were: to reflect on the teaching-learning process of the function of the 2nd grade in high school and to explore the calculation for solving this function with the use of the golden material. The use of this pedagogical tool comes from the possibility of expanding the student's reasoning in understanding what it is and how to solve them. The results obtained revealed that the use of concrete material, when well explored in the classroom, facilitates greater student participation and, consequently, promotes the understanding of the contents developed. O presente trabalho trata da resolução do cálculo de raízes com uso de material concreto focado na resolução da função do 2º grau. Os objetivos propostos, foram: refletir sobre o processo de ensino aprendizagem da função do 2º grau no ensino médio e explorar o cálculo para resolução dessa função com a utilização do material dourado. O uso desta ferramenta pedagógica advém da possibilidade de ampliar o raciocínio do discente na compreensão sobre o que é e, em como resolvê-las.
