Introduction: With the increasing influence of social media, there is a growing demand for gyms and supplements to boost performance and training results. However, professional supervision is crucial to ensure the safe and effective use of these supplements. Objective: This study aimed to assess the consumption of supplements by resistance training practitioners in Coari/AM, as well as the types of professionals responsible for advising on their use. Methods: A cross-sectional observational study was conducted out with gym-goers aged between 18 and 52. Data on socioeconomic aspects, physical activity patterns and eating habits were collected using a semi-structured questionnaire. Results: The study included 140 participants, the majority of whom were women (58.6%) with an average age of 29 years old. Most of the participants had an income of up to two minimum wages and used protein supplements with the goal of hypertrophy. With regard to the types of professionals who prescribed the use of supplements, the majority of women received guidance from physical educators (43.5%), while the majority of men received guidance from nutritionists (30.6%). The majority of participants considered the supplements to be effective and planned to continue using them indefinitely (95.7% women, 98% men). It was observed that the use of supplements increased with the increase in family income, length of time practicing and weekly frequency of exercise. Conclusion: The consumption of supplements among resistance training practitioners was significant, focusing on muscle hypertrophy, with the choice influenced by income and guidance from physical educators and nutritionists.
