Resumo:
The present work sought to characterize the nutritional profile of bodybuilders who did or did not use dietary supplements. The data collection took place in a gymnasium of São Sebastião da Boa Vista - Marajó - PA. The following data were collected: age, weight, height, use of nutritional supplements, skin folds and food registry of three days. The skinfolds were measured in order to obtain the percentage of body fat. Food consumption was analyzed using the Dietbox nutritional software free version and the average consumption of macro and micronutrients was calculated. The mean male BMI was 24.24 kg / m2 ± 2.20, and the female BMI was 23.65 kg / m2 ± 2.58, the mean fat percentage among the genera was 9.6 ± 2 , 65% for men and 18.1% ± 3.64% for women, a mean of 9.7% ± 3.88% was obtained for the supplemented male group and 9.5% ± 3.21% for the nonsupplemented male group, and mean of 17.1% ± 2.85% in the supplemented female group and 19% ± 3.80% in the nonsupplemented group. Although there is not much difference in BMI, because both groups were in the eutrophic range, there was a distinction between the percentage of fat between the genders and between the volunteers of the female group, since the supplemented subgroup had a lower percentage of body fat in comparison to the nonsupplemented group, gave due to the same ones to make use of a more balanced diet and rich in proteins, which was not observed in the masculine group. In this way it can be concluded that to make use of nutritional supplements alone is not totally effective if it is not accompanied by an individualized and balanced diet.
