To achieve this goal, documentary research was conducted, including interviews with the families of the victims, survivors of the accident, and rescue teams. In addition, newspapers, reports, official documents, photographs, television program videos, and other materials were analyzed (Fonseca, 2002). Exploratory research was also attributed to gather all evidence related to the shipwreck for which there is no knowledge, in order to increase the possibility of conducting a comprehensive investigation into the possible causes of this accident, as well as other similar examples. These tragedies highlight issues such as overcrowding, natural obstacles, and other factors such as lack of preventive education, passenger and cargo overload, lack of proper vessel maintenance, alcohol consumption, and crew inexperience. O objetivo principal deste trabalho foi a produção de um documentário que abordasse o naufrágio do barco Comandante Sales, ocorrido em 2008, no município de Manacapuru, que se tornou o primeiro caso fluvial a ser levado a júri popular no Estado do Amazonas. Para alcançar esse objetivo, foram realizadas pesquisas documentais, entrevistas com as famílias das vítimas, sobreviventes do acidente e equipes de resgate. Além disso, foram analisados jornais, relatórios, documentos oficiais, fotografias, vídeos de programas de televisão, entre outros materiais (Fonseca, 2002). A pesquisa exploratória também foi atribuída para recolher todas as evidências relacionadas ao naufrágio sobre o qual não há conhecimento, a fim de aumentar a possibilidade de realizar uma investigação completa sobre as possíveis causas desse acidente, bem como de outros exemplos similares.
