This is an investigation with a qualitative approach and an applied nature, based on a literature review used to support the reflections made. The study also sought to identify the efforts of university libraries in the seven northern states of Brazil to involve indigenous knowledge in their environment, based on a survey carried out using an online questionnaire. According to the literature, university libraries must foster culture, affirm their social role, and promote the inclusion of indigenous peoples' knowledge in their environments. About the information provided by the survey participants, it can be concluded that the practices reproduced in libraries in the North of Brazil do not work to include indigenous knowledge, as recommended in the literature. Esta pesquisa investiga a atuação das bibliotecas universitárias em relação aos conhecimentos tradicionais indígenas. Os objetivos específicos deste estudo se constituíram em identificar na literatura os conceitos de conhecimentos tradicionais e conhecimentos indígenas para mapear a atuação das bibliotecas universitárias de instituições de ensino superior na região Norte do Brasil em relação aos conhecimentos tradicionais indígenas em seus contextos. Trata-se de uma investigação com abordagem qualitativa e natureza aplicada, apoiado em uma revisão de literatura utilizada para fundamentar as reflexões realizadas. O estudo buscou também identificar os esforços das bibliotecas universitárias dos sete estados do norte do Brasil para envolver os saberes indígenas em seu ambiente a partir de um levantamento realizado por meio de um questionário on-line. De acordo com a literatura, as bibliotecas universitárias tem o dever de fomentar a cultura, afirmar seu papel social e promover a inserção dos saberes dos povos originários em seus âmbitos.
