Resumo:
This study analyzes how the school library promotes reading encouragement using fantasy literature as a tool. To this end, the specific objectives of the research include reaffirming the relevance of the school library in the process of encouraging reading, identifying reading activities carried out with the use of fantasy literature, and verifying the librarian's participation in the development of these actions. The study reaffirms the school library as an essential space for the formation of readers while exploring the central role of the librarian as a mediator in the reading process. The research is based on a bibliographic review that addresses the types of reading, the relevance of fantasy literature in the school context, and the librarian's practices in reading mediation. It highlights that fantasy literature has significant potential to stimulate students' imagination, curiosity, and critical thinking, fostering a deeper engagement with reading. The librarian, in partnership with the teaching staff, by developing dynamic, creative, and collaborative activities such as reading clubs and thematic workshops, can strengthen students' connection with books, enhancing the library's role as a cultural and pedagogical hub essential to the school environment.
