To discover these elements, initially I provide information about the author, then I make a contextualization of the work and finally, with the support of theoretical texts by Julia Kristeva (1994), Tzvetan Todorov (1999) and (2010), Deleuze and Guattari (1995) the position of the other is illustrated. In order to analyze the identity structure of the displaced, I sought theoretical support in Stuart Hall (2003) and (2006) and Kathryn Woodward (2000) as well as García Canclini (2008) with the concept of hybridity. With this research I hope to contribute with studies of contemporary authors in the State of Roraima and bring about the discussion that what is strange to us, that which is different, the other, that annoys us, starts when a consciousness of our differences arises and ends when we recognize that we all are foreigners: the foreigner lives in us (Kristeva, 1994, p. 9). O intuito desta pesquisa é analisar de que maneira se manifesta a alteridade, o desenraizamento e a identidade como elementos relevantes na obra O homem de Barlovento, do escritor gaúcho Bruno Claúdio Garmatz no contexto de Literatura de/em/para Roraima; destacando o contorno natural da região, sendo ilustradas na obra através dos diversos deslocamentos que sofre o personagem principal Mauricio e suas experiências com o Outro, “o estranho”. Para descobrir esses elementos, inicialmente forneço informações do autor, posteriormente faço uma contextualização da obra e finalmente, com apoio dos textos teóricos de Julia Kristeva (1994), Tzvetan Todorov (1999) e (2010), Deleuze e Guattari (1995), ilustro a posição do Outro. Para analisar a construção identitária desse deslocado, procuro apoio teórico em Stuart Hall (2003) e (2006) e Kathryn Woodward (2000) e ainda, García Canclini (2008) com o conceito de hibridismo.
