Resumo:
This work is the result of an anthropological approach on the boatmen of the city of Tocantinópolis-TO, a contribution in the area of heritage in the Tocantina region. The research problem was: How can the knowledge and practices of boatmen be thought of as heritage in the city of Tocantinópolis? The general objective was to understand the knowledge and practices of boatmen as assets in Tocantinópolis. The specific objectives were: To identify the knowledge and practices through orality/life history of the boatmen; Report the boatmen's relationship with their profession and their object of work; Discuss how to make boats and their nomenclatures; Describe the characteristics of cultural practices, from the perspective of religious tradition. Heritage, memory, identity and orality are concepts worked on in the development of writing. The methodology used was ethnographic, a detailed description of the field in which it provided oral interviews and photographs to be presented, with a theoretical basis from the Social Sciences, the preservation of intangible and material heritage is important for documenting the city's history from the perspective of the boatmen. The results obtained from carrying out the research demonstrate that material and immaterial heritage are the basis for understanding the work practice of boatmen and, consequently, the process of exchanging knowledge and its representations with know-how, making the identity of this group perceptible. Therefore, when we talk about boatmen, their knowledge and practices, we see how a group of people with the same profession are responsible for part of the construction of the cultural and historical identity of the place. In the first chapter, we have the introduction with the presentation of the research problem, objectives and methodology.
