Thus, since art is an element that contributes to human formation, the objective of this work is to understand art as an instrument that contributes to human formation. The central question of this research is to seek answers as to why and how art teaching can contribute to the process of human formation or the humanization of people. Thus, in our first section we discuss dehumanization in contemporary times and the reflexes of dehumanization in contemporary subjects, based on Paulo Freire's Pedagogy of the Oppressed. Next, we present the concepts of authors such as Jorge Coli and Newton Duarte, about what art is and about art as human production. In the third section we reflect on the forms of sensitization and humanization in the languages of art. Thus, in the methodology, we resort to the qualitative research method, accompanied by bibliographic and documental research to reflect on the importance and valorization of art in school teaching, in academic formation and in human formation, as a way to soften the dehumanization of the human being, which occurs with the loss of ethical and moral values. O objeto que norteou essa pesquisa surgiu nas disciplinas de Arte e Educação e Fundamentos e Metodologia do Ensino da Arte e Movimento, quando foi proposto falar sobre a importância da disciplina de Artes na formação acadêmica e humana. Deste modo, sendo a arte um elemento contribuinte da formação humana, o objetivo deste trabalho é compreender a arte como um instrumento que contribui para a formação humana. A questão central da pesquisa está em buscar respostas do porquê e como o ensino da arte pode contribuir com o processo da formação humana ou com a humanização das pessoas? Assim, em nossa primeira seção dialogamos acerca da desumanização na contemporaneidade e dos reflexos da desumanização nos sujeitos contemporâneos, tendo como suporte a obra Pedagogia do Oprimido de Paulo Freire. Em seguida, apresentamos os conceitos de autores como Jorge Coli e Newton Duarte, sobre o que é arte e da arte como produção humana. Na terceira seção refletimos sobre as formas de sensibilização e de humanização nas linguagens em arte.
