This research consists in to know the names of indigenous origin present in Geography textbook 7th grade of elementary school, considering a toponymic and interdisciplinary perspective. As methodological approach, we follow the onomasiological plan of research: through a generic concept, identifies the possible variables of consulted about the names of places in the textbook sources. We opted for a qualitative descriptive research. Within this approach, a kind of documentary research will be performed, since the instrument used for document analysis and data collection is the textbook LD. As result of research conducted in LD Geography of the 7th year of elementary school, we have identified 85 toponyms of indigenous origin, which make up the corpus of research. In the analysis, we sought to understand, from the identification, description and etymology of these names, possible motivations regarding the appointment of indigenous place names, as well as the context in which these names are presented in LD Geography. The results show that the physical and natural aspects, such as flora, fauna , hydrology and soil characteristics were the main motivational sources for the denominator . The study of place names, applied to the context of teaching , enable the expansion of information in different areas of knowledge regarding the teaching-learning process of the student . A Toponímia é a disciplina que estuda os topônimos, ou seja, os nomes próprios de lugares. É considerada parte da linguística e possui relações intrínsecas com a Geografia, História, Antropologia e outras áreas do saber. Esta pesquisa consiste em estudar os nomes de origem indígena presentes no livro didático de Geografia1 do 7º ano do ensino fundamental, considerando uma perspectiva toponímica e interdisciplinar. Como percurso metodológico, seguiremos o plano onomasiológico de investigação: por meio de um conceito genérico, identificam-se as variáveis possíveis das fontes consultadas a respeito dos nomes de lugares no livro didático. Optamos por uma pesquisa qualitativa do tipo descritiva. Dentro dessa abordagem, será realizada uma pesquisa do tipo documental, posto que o instrumento utilizado para análise documental e coleta de dados é o livro didático LD. Como resultado da pesquisa realizada no LD de Geografia do 7º ano do ensino fundamental, identificamos 85 topônimos de origem indígena, os quais compõem o corpus da pesquisa. Na análise, buscamos compreender, a partir da identificação, descrição e etimologia desses nomes, as possíveis motivações acerca da nomeação dos topônimos indígenas, bem como, em que contexto esses nomes são apresentados no LD de Geografia. Os resultados obtidos apontam que os aspectos físico-naturais, como flora, fauna, hidrografia e características do solo foram as principais fontes motivacionais para o denominador.
