The work is developed through bibliographical research, based on some authors of the area, who approach on the subject in question, because by making use of comics in the reading room the student acquires a development of proficient reading. The use of Comic Books allows the reader to understand and interpret independently the texts read and leads the teacher to realize the relevance of developing independent, critical and reflexive readers. Therefore, teachers are offered concrete means to carry out coherent activities that favor the insertion of the student in the scope of reading through the reading room. Este trabalho tem como objetivo apresentar como a utilização de histórias em quadrinhos na sala de leitura pode contribuir de maneira significativa na prática da leitura. Para isso foi escolhida a escola de ensino fundamental São Francisco de Assis, a qual já desenvolve atividades relacionada à sala de leitura. O trabalho está desenvolvido por meio de pesquisas bibliográficas, tendo como embasamento alguns autores da área, que abordam sobre o tema em questão, pois fazendo uso das histórias em quadrinhos na sala de leitura o aluno adquire um desenvolvimento da leitura proficiente. A utilização de Histórias em quadrinhos permite compreender e interpretar de forma autônoma os textos lidos e leva o professor a perceber a relevância de desenvolver leitores independentes, críticos e reflexivos.
