We highlight the impacts of the action perceived by students, teachers and other social actors involved in the 2017 edition that took place at the Marta da Conceição State School in Cotijuba. A total of 33 participants were interviewed among students, teachers and residents of the island, including workshop exhibitors, partners and organizers of the event. It was verified that the project is structured considering the reality lived by the riverine students, enabling them to get in touch with strategies that value and seek to integrate diverse existing knowledge in the Amazon. Thus, "Science on the Island" adopts a bidirectional communication process, in line with contemporary theories of Social Communication and Public Communication of Science. O objetivo deste trabalho é analisar a adesão da proposta do projeto de extensão “Ciência na Ilha: Educação e Divulgação Científica na Amazônia”, realizado há 13 anos por alunos e professores do Clube de Ciências da UFPA, com intuito de promover interação entre os saberes das populações locais e o conhecimento científico em escolas das ilhas de Belém do Pará. Destacamos os impactos da ação percebidos por alunos, professores e demais atores sociais envolvidos na edição 2017, na Escola Estadual Marta da Conceição, em Cotijuba. Foram ouvidos 33 participantes entre alunos, professores e moradores da ilha, ministrantes das oficinas, expositores, parceiros e organizadores do evento. Constatamos que o projeto é estruturado considerando a realidade vivida pelos estudantes ribeirinhos, possibilitando que estes entrem em contato com estratégias que valorizam e buscam integrar diversos saberes existentes na Amazônia.
