This article aims to report a bibliotherapy experience conducted with the elderly. The research has a qualitative approach of an applied nature and the method used was action research. The study was carried out with the elderly who live in a nursing home in the Metropolitan Region of Belém/PA, through direct observation. During the bibliotherapy sessions it was observed that vision difficulties were a common problem for the participants. Thus, adaptations were made so that everyone could participate in the library activity. In the end, the nursing home team noted an improvement in the coexistence and socialization of the elderly due to the library activity. A biblioterapia é uma prática terapêutica que usa a leitura como meio de proporcionar ao paciente-leitor possibilidade de tratar uma enfermidade psíquica ou emocional. O presente artigo tem como objetivo relatar uma experiência de biblioterapia conduzida com idosos. A pesquisa é de abordagem qualitativa de natureza aplicada e o método utilizado foi a pesquisa-ação. O estudo foi feito com os idosos que residem em uma casa de repouso na Região Metropolitana de Belém/PA, por meio da observação direta. No decorrer das seções de biblioterapia foi observado que as dificuldades na visão era um problema comum aos participantes. Assim, foram realizadas adaptações para que todos pudessem participar da atividade biblioterápica.
