With the general objective to know the importance of Libras as a linguistic cultural artifact in the family environment of the deaf person, having as theorists the authors Strobel (2008) with linguistic and family cultural artifacts, Sacks (2010) with reports of families and deaf people showing their reality, and Gesser (2009) where she presents the importance of sign language for the knowledge and learning of the deaf person. A bibliographic methodology was used with texts, articles and books and qualitative methods such as a small questionnaire with mothers who have deaf children in the Letras Libras course, whether it is a transforming contribution in a given social and cultural reality. Finally, the results found through the parents of deaf children realize the importance of sign language in the family environment and that through communication they begin to have access and a new language learning in their family environment. Esta pesquisa apresenta a Libras como Artefato Cultural Linguístico no Ambiente Familiar do Sujeito Surdo, na qual promove o conhecimento e a importância da língua de sinais no ambiente familiar e a relação da família ouvinte com a pessoa surda onde revela o desconhecimento cultural linguístico que envolve o surdo; além da luta percorrida pela comunidade surda para ter direito à informação e o acesso ao conhecimento por meio da língua de sinais. Com o objetivo Geral conhecer a importância da Libras como artefato cultural linguístico no ambiente familiar da pessoa surda tendo como teóricos os autores Strobel (2008) com artefatos culturais linguísticas e familiar, Sacks (2010) com relatos de famílias e pessoas surdas mostrando suas realidade, e Gesser (2009) onde ela apresenta a importância da língua de sinais para o conhecimento e o aprendizado da pessoa surda. Foi usada uma metodologia bibliográfica com textos, artigos e livros e métodos qualitativos como um pequeno questionário com mães que têm filhos (a) surdos que fazem o curso de Letras Libras, seja uma contribuição transformadora em determinada realidade social e cultural. Por fim, os resultados encontrados através dos pais de filhos (as) surdos perceberem a importância da língua de sinais no ambiente familiar e que através da comunicação começa ter acesso e um novo aprendizado linguístico no seu ambiente familiar. 4 Falta acessibilidade para os alunos surdos.
