Deaf people born into hearing families often create strategies to communicate with family members. This research has the general objective of analyzing the use of the homemade sign system within the family. The specific objectives, to analyze, within the narratives, the form used for communication between the family and the deaf person, to analyze how family members of deaf people see the use of the homemade signaling system, reflecting on the ease of the homemade signaling system on the part of family members of the deaf person.The theoretical contribution was based on Scantbelruy (2022), Marx (2004), Duarte (2013) and Saviani (2013); homemade signal system is based on Scantbelruy (2022). The research has a qualitative approach (LAKATOS; MARCONI, 1993; MINAYO, 1993). The research was qualitative in nature and had field research as its methodological reference. The research method is based on the case study (DIVAN; OLIVEIRA, 2008, p. 189). As participants, the research included a deaf person and his sister. Bardin (2016) was used for the data analysis procedure. The results showed that the use of homemade signs is in fact the gateway to social, family and academic inclusion. Pessoas surdas nascidas em famílias ouvintes geralmente criam estratégias para se comunicar com familiares. Por esta razão, a presente pesquisa tem como objetivo geral analisar o uso do sistema de sinais caseiros dentro da família. Os objetivos específicos, são analisar, dentro das narrativas, a forma usada para a comunicação entre família e a pessoa surda, analisar de que maneira os familiares de surdos representam o uso de sistema de sinais caseiros, e ainda refletir sobre a aceitação do sistema de sinais caseiros por parte de familiares da pessoa surda. O aporte teórico foi baseado em língua e linguagem Scantbelruy (2022), Marx (2004), Duarte (2013) e Saviani (2013); sistema de sinais caseiros está baseado em Scantbelruy (2022). A pesquisa tem como abordagem qualitativa (LAKATOS; MARCONI, 1993; MINAYO, 1993). como referencial metodológico pesquisa de campo. O método da pesquisa baseia-se no estudo de caso (DIVAN; OLIVEIRA, 2008, p. 189). Utilizou-se Bardin (2016) para o procedimento de análise de dados. Como participantes, a pesquisa contou com uma pessoa surda e sua irmã.
