Resumo:
The mainly study objective was to identify how academic activity while working contributed to the pleasure and suffering processes of university students at UFT, who attended in 2019/2 the optional discipline: Pleasure and Suffering at the University (Class A). The study specific objectives were: to map the main student symptoms of suffering and illness who attended the elective 2019/2 in Class A; identify the alternatives used by students to alleviate suffering and/or illness at the University and check which are the student sources of pleasure who attended the elective in 2019/2 in Class. This study is a qualitative approach, of descriptive nature and that had as procedure the field research. The questionnaire was made available to elective discipline students through a link from the Google form, which was shared in the class WhatsApp group. The sample was 26 participants, with students from the course of Medicine and Journalism. The data were analysed in the Excel and through content analysis. As a result of the general objective, it was identified that most of the participants felt overloaded with the semester, especially with the Final Work (FW), the large number of disciplines being attended, the high workload of studies, the dedication to studying content for tests and activities and the disorganization of teachers. The main symptoms presented by the students were irritability, fragmented sleep, difficulty concentrating, feelings of tension, inattention, restlessness, agitation, loss of interest, indecision, fatigue, discouragement and guilt. Most students agree or totally agree that the university aggravates the mentioned symptoms. It is identified as escapes from suffering the increase or onset of consumption of tobacco, alcohol and other drugs. The main sources of pleasure in the university identified were: living with friends, studying and physical activity. Thus, it can be considered that this research has reached the proposed objectives, thus demonstrating that the experiences of pleasure and suffering for students are common and inseparable in the University work organization, as well as in other work environments.
