This work also seeks to appropriate the use of the geographic categories of place and territory and its applicability within the prison and seeks to identify, through the bibliography of great names in Geography, the best way to interpret the dissemination and despondency of prison culture within the state of Tocantins. In this way, the work will address the forms of communication, cultural artistic expressions, games, rules and the daily way of life of the inmates. Living in prison revealed the assimilation of culture and the cultural marks that each ex-inmate person takes to rest of his life. Although the state has many prison units, the work is based on the five largest in the state, which is more than enough to enter the cultural universe behind bars. Este artigo tem por finalidade a busca por compreender como se dá a produção da atividade cultural na vida das pessoas que estão em estado de privação de liberdade no sistema prisional do Estado do Tocantins, mais precisamente na cadeia de pública da cidade de Porto Nacional e ao mesmo tempo verificar a ligação cultural que existe com o mundo exterior, assim, analisando a vida e cultura carcerária da prisão em paralelo a realidade da nossa sociedade. Esta obra também busca se apropriar do uso das categorias geográficas de lugar e território sua aplicabilidade dentro da prisão e ainda procura identificar por meio da bibliografia de autores da Geografia a melhor forma de interpretar o surgimento e disseminação da cultura carcerária dentro do Estado do Tocantins. Deste modo, o trabalho abordará as formas de comunicação, expressões artísticas culturais, jogos, regras e modo de vida cotidiano dos reeducados. O viver na prisão revelado, a assimilação da cultura e as marcas culturais que cada ex-reeducando leva para sua vida.
