The Letras Libras faculty appears in order to meet the teaching-learning needs of the
deaf people. With this in mind, it is necessary to reflect on the training of
professionals who will work in classrooms as teachers, whether teaching the
language as a first language or as an additional language. This research has the
general objective of reflecting on the use of the Portuguese language in its oral
modality in the classroom spaces of the Letras Libras course - UFAM. The specific
objectives are to identify the reasons that lead the faculty of the course to use this
resource and to verify the Political Pedagogical Project of the Course regarding the
topic of language of instruction. The theoretical contribution was based on Quadros,
Cerny, Pereira (2008), Albres (2014), Carmo (2022), Santiago, Andrade (2013) and
Santos (2018). About the PPC, the research was based on UFAM (2014). The
research has a qualitative character and had documental research and field research
as methodological reference. Bardin (2016) was used for data analysis procedures.
Six professors, currently acting in the Letras Libras college, were interviewed. The
results showed that the use of the Portuguese language as a teaching-learning
strategy is dependent on many factors outside the teacher's control. As a
contribution, it is suggested that the PPC be revised, recommending Libras as
instruction and interaction language. |
